NSCAG statement in solidarity with Cuba

On 20 October 2024, the Government of Nicaragua issued a statement in solidarity with the people and government of Cuba in response to the total blackout the socialist island suffered due to the unexpected outage of the country’s electricity grid.

The statement, signed by President Daniel Ortega and Vice-President Rosario Murillo, highlights the fact that the blackout is yet another direct consequence of the brutal imperialist blockade, “whose fundamental interest has been and continues to be in creating every possible inconvenience for Cuban families through abuse and aggression in every aspect of life, aggravating the crises which for more than 62 years they have imposed as a mechanism of domination and subjugation.”

In the statement, President Ortega and Vice-President Murillo, also state that faced with this extra manifestation of US cruelty, they demand the cessation of such an abusive and genocidal policy whose consequences are there for everyone to see.

We, in the Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign Action Group, strongly echo the Nicaraguan Government’s solidarity with Cuba.

We unequivocally condemn the United States illegal and criminal blockade against the people of Cuba and call for its lifting in line with UN General Assembly resolutions for the past 32 years.
